Position Summary

The School of Biological and Population Health Sciences invites applications for a full-time 1.0 FTE, 12-month, Research Associate (Post Doc) position. Reappointment is at the discretion of the School Heads.

This position supports the Occupational Ergonomics and Biomechanics (OEB) Laboratory at Oregon State University by characterizing work-related physical exposures and investigating their relationships with adverse health outcomes for an ultimate goal of promoting health and well-being at workplaces.

This position manages externally-funded research projects, oversees the research staffs in OEB lab, and works with the lab director and study team members.

Key duties include:

  • Manage and support ongoing funded research projects.
  • Establish 3-D motion capture data collection/analysis protocol using Optitrack motion capture system and Visual 3D software.
  • Train research staff and students of OEB lab regarding 3-D motion capture data collection and analysis.
  • Develop externally-funded research projects on incumbent’s own research interests.
  • Disseminate study results via conference proceedings, presentations, and peer-reviewed journal papers.
Position Duties

60% Research Project Support & Management:

  • Coordinate the current research projects that evaluates the effects of whole body vibration exposures on biomechanical loadings, biological stress markers, and postural balance by working with the PI and research staff in the OEB lab.
  • Develop 3-D motion capture data collection/analysis protocol using Optitrack motion capture system and Visual 3D software.
  • Lead and support the project data collection and analysis.
  • Lead weekly meetings with the PI and research staffs.

30% Other Academic/Research Duties:

  • Mentor students on their research projects in the OEB lab.
  • Initiate and develop research proposals per his/her own research interests.
  • Develop manuscripts and disseminate study results via conference proceedings, presentations, and peer-reviewed journal papers.

10% Administrative Duties:

  • Provide administrative oversight to lab operation including project budget, IRB, procurement, etc.
  • Lead meetings with research collaborators.
Minimum/Required Qualifications
  • PhD degree win Ergonomics, Biomechanics, or related discipline.
  • Expertise in 3-D motion capture systems and biomechanical modeling.
  • Strong analytic and quantitative skills.
  • Interpersonal skills.
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of professionalism.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
