Position Summary

Employer Ambassadors support the mission and services of The Career Development Center by providing access to information and connection with specified employers, in this case Union Pacific, advisement to peers, coordination of campus programs and events, and collaboration with staff, alumni and other center stakeholders.

This recruitment will be used to fill one part-time (a maximum of 20 hours per week) student outreach assistant position for The Career Development Center at Oregon State University.

Position Duties

Outreach and Events

o Provide examples, integrate logos and ads where appropriate, and use employer specific case studies
• Present and participate in events and tabling on behalf of specified employers at campus activities
• Ensure career fair and event registration and marketing for specified employers including but not limited to Handshake integration, social media marketing, corresponding with students interested in specified employers
• Plan, prepare, and participate in Career Fairs throughout the year
• Table at each Career Fair for or with specified employer reps or behalf of the company
• Facilitate engaging presentations to Oregon State University students on behalf of specified employers

Administrative Tasks
• Report regularly to employer contacts on Handshake student interactions, presentations, tabling, and efforts to further the recruiting efforts of specified employers.
• Actively participate in regular trainings and evaluations
• Administrative and front desk service including answering phone calls, emails, and directing students to correct contact within the office and employers
• Reserve 1 hour per week for staff meetings

Resume/Cover-Letter
• Provide peer advisement to students on resume and cover letter development for specified employer using specific examples
• Inform students of the resources and services our office provides, as well as familiarize students with other resources on campus using specified employer examples

Other duties as assigned.

Additional Required Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an engineering major
• Must show motivation and initiative
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Dependable
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a Criminal History Check and be determined to be position qualified as per OSU Standard 576-055-0000 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in Youth Programs may have additional Criminal History Checks every 2 years.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

• 1 year of work experience
• Excellent presentation skills

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

Primarily work outside of the office doing outreach, tabling at events and meeting outside of the Career Development Center. Occasional stooping and lifting of materials up to 50lbs. Some desk work moving within the office to assist customers and leading guests within suite.

The student worker may be required to work up to an approximate 20 hours per week.
