Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill one-two part-time (up to 20 hours per week) Student Technical Assistant position for the Department of Horticulture at Oregon State University (OSU).

The position will support the Pollinator Health Program by assisting with bee collection and reviewing on pesticides.

Position Duties

45% Label and photograph native bee collection

Successfully complete and maintain appropriate farm, lab and greenhouse safety training and certifications.

45% Assist with a literature review of the toxic effects of pesticides to bees.

10% Other duties as assigned.

Additional Required Qualifications

Proficient with Microsoft Excel

Organized work habits

Excellent attention to detail

Must be able to work with live bees.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

Familiarity and interest in bee biology and pesticides

Previous experience with data-entry

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

Work hours will be between the hours of 8:30-4:30, Monday-Friday.

Working at a computer in the Melathopoulos lab.

Data entry will involve full days of computer work with regular meetings with supervisor to review work.
