Position Summary

This recruitment will be used to fill two part-time (a maximum of 15 hours per week) Student Research Assistants-Interviewer for School of Biological and Population Sciences in the College of Public Health and Human Services at Oregon State University (OSU).

The College of Public Health and Human Sciences has become an academic partner with Oregon Health Authority’s (OHA) Northwest Center for Foodborne Outbreak Management, Epidemiology, and Surveillance (FOMES). FOMES is a designated Integrated Food Safety Center of Excellence by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. FOMES activities include conducting interviews of cases of select foodborne diseases in order to identify risk factors for infection.

Position Duties
  • Interviewing cases of select foodborne diseases as identified by OHA/FOMES.
    • 90% OHA/FOMES will issue interviewers mobile phones with which to conduct the interviews.
    • 10% Interviewers will complete the interviews and submit directly to OHA/FOMES.

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Organization and time management skills.
Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • Knowledge of infectious disease epidemiology principles.
  • Interviewing and data entry experience.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
  • Work can be conducted in any quiet, private area appropriate for conducting phone interviews.
