10%- General lab and Greenhouse maintenance (bottle washing, sweeping up)

Minimum Qualifications

Employment Eligibility Requirements (http://fa.oregonstate.edu/stu-manual/500-employment-eligibility-requirements)

Additional Required Qualifications

• Employee must be able to follow directions and lab procedures consistently and precisely, label and samples accurately and legibly, and track samples accurately throughout the soil processing procedure.
• Employee may be working alone in the lab for several hours per day, so ability to work independently is important, but so is a disposition to ask for help if needed.
• Be available to work about 10-20 hours a week, on average, but with the understanding that the total number of work hours available is variable and sometimes unpredictable. Lab manager will make every effort to communicate anticipated work volume from week to week as best as possible. There is generally more work than students have time for during the fall, but winter and spring terms may include periods when there is less than 10 hours per week of work available.
• Keep the supervisor reasonably informed about necessary fluctuations in your expected work schedule from week to week.
• Available to work for a minimum two-hour block at a time. (Work schedule can be flexible, but blocks of time less than two hours at a time are generally not very productive).

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

Work Study funded students preferred. Experience working in a research lab.

Working Conditions / Work Schedule

Employee will be on their feet for the majority of their work-shift, as weighing and extracting samples is done standing at the sink or bench top, as well as the general lab and greenhouse maintenance tasks

Soil samples are stored in bags that weigh up to 50 pounds, so ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds short distances is routine, however, if needed, the bags can be broken down into more manageable weight before moving.
