Position Summary

The School of Mechanical, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering invites applications for a full-time1.0 FTE, 9-month, Tenure Track Assistant, Associate or Full Professor position.

Applicants must hold a doctorate in a relevant field. The successful candidate is expected to initiate new funded research as well as expand, complement, and collaborate with existing research programs in the School, the Collaborative Robotics and Intelligent Systems (CoRIS) institute, the College of Engineering and beyond.

The successful candidates will have office and laboratory space physically located with the existing Robotics group, will have an administrative home most appropriate to their area of expertise within the College of Engineering (MIME or EECS), and be a member of the CoRIS institute.

Position Duties

50% Teaching and related duties:
Teaching of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science.

40% Research and scholarly activities:
Research, scholarship, mentoring students and management of multidisciplinary research programs.

10% Service:
Service to the School, College or University.

Minimum/Required Qualifications

Minimum/Required Qualifications at the level of Assistant Professor:
• Applicants must have earned a PhD in in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other robotics-related discipline prior to position start date.
• Demonstrated ability or significant potential for excellent teaching, leading and collaborating in innovative research, and attracting the necessary funding to sustain a vigorous research program are required.
• Proven oral and written communication skills.
• A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity.

Minimum/Required Qualifications at the level of Associate or Full Professor:
• Applicants must have earned a PhD in in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other robotics-related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to provide provide inspiration and leadership in research and actively contribute to teaching.
• Proven oral and written communication skills.
• A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

Preferred (Special) Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications at the level of Assistant Professor:
• Postdoctoral and/or industry experience.

Preferred Qualifications at the level of Associate or Full Professor:
• Ability to build collaborative ties with other departments within the College of Engineering, University and beyond.
