Position Summary

The Department of Statistics invites applications for a full-time (1.00 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position.

This position is primarily to support the Data Analytics programs in providing teaching and some advising for the online programs. In addition, assistant professors in the College of Science and the Department of Statistics are expected to develop effectiveness in teaching, advising, service, and other assigned duties; achievement in scholarship and creative activity that establishes the individual as a significant contributor to the field or profession, with potential for distinction; and an appropriate balance of institutional and professional service. Those seeking tenure should develop records that show achievement in serving the University’s missions, and potential for effective long-term performance that warrant the institution’s reciprocal long-term commitment. Professorial faculty members are expected to maintain high standards of collegiality, professional integrity, and willingness to accept and cooperate in assignments.

The Statistics department has 16 tenured/tenure-track faculty members and roughly 60 graduate students in the M.S. and Ph.D. degree programs in Statistics. In addition, the department offers an on-line M.S. degree and an on-line Graduate Certificate in Data Analytics. Current research interests of the faculty include Bayesian methods, environmental statistics, high-dimensional data analysis, network modeling, sampling, spatial statistics, statistical bioinformatics, and statistical ecology. The department receives support for its academic programs from the College of Science, with supplemental funding provided by the College of Agricultural Sciences.
